On Wednesday, Wyandotte Roosevelt senior student-athlete Rylie Hawkins penned her national letter of intent to continue her academic and volleyball-playing career at Madonna University next school year.

An all-News-Herald honoree in both her junior and senior seasons, Hawkins was a key veteran presence and producer on what was otherwise a young Roosevelt team in the fall.

Hawkins, who was named all-region as well, averaged around three kills and one block and one ace per set across Roosevelt’s 34 total matches played this past season. The middle blocker, who hit at around a 30 percent clip, was also one of the Bears’ was one of the more reliable components in the service department, evident by her 93 percent serve success rate.
