TRENTON — The Downriver League continued its long bowling regular season on Thursday with its 12th of 19 scheduled dates for competition at 10 Pins of Trenton.
Among the teams on hand were both the boys and girls from Wyandotte Roosevelt, each of whom came in with perfect marks in record play as they opposed Lincoln Park in their latest matchup.Other battles on Thursday included Southgate Anderson taking on Gibraltar Carlson, Trenton dueling with Allen Park, and Taylor squaring off with Dearborn Edsel Ford. The teams from Brownstown Woodhaven had a bye from league action.
Here is a look at the results from each match:
GIRLS
Roosevelt 29, Lincoln Park 1 — A sweep both baker games to open the match guided Roosevelt into later taking home nine of the 10 regular games, including two wins each from Ellie Isenegger (199, 217), Madison Dufault (213, 169), and Sam Placencia (153, 129). Lincoln Park’s lone point came courtesy of Zanari Stinson (146) in her first of two games.
Anderson 22, Carlson 8 — A battle between two of the top four teams in the league saw Anderson pull away late. The Titans scored 16 of the possible 20 regular series points thanks in part to two wins each from Mallory Addison (191, 166), Lydia Bednar (213, 223), and Kaitlin Williams (159, 157). Carlson’s four regular series points came courtesy of both Natalie Daugherty (127, 168) and Reese Arndt (190, 183).
Allen Park 22, Trenton 8 — Two baker game wins set the tone for Allen Park, who then racked up 12 of the 20 possible regular series points. The Jags saw four different bowlers pick up at least one win, while a fifth came in a split effort, including two victories from Jessica Crain (171, 130). Trenton meanwhile got a day-best showing from Olivia Feijoo (168, 176) and her pair of wins.
Taylor 28, Edsel Ford 2 — Much like Allen Park, Taylor got a much-needed win over last-place Edsel to climb up in the league standings. A sweep of the two baker games then turned into claiming all but two of the available points in the regular games for the Griffins, who got two single game victories each from Amelia Adams (129, 118), Aria Ragland (146, 108), and Ava Strange (95, 164).
BOYS
Roosevelt 29, Lincoln Park 1 — Much like their girl counterparts, Roosevelt comfortably took care of Lincoln Park to stay unblemished in the league slate. Roosevelt swept the bakers then outscored the Railsplitters by nearly 700 total pins in the regular series of games. The Bears on Thursday saw five different bowlers tally a victory, including a pair each from Ayden McLaughlin (195, 189) and Connor Bedo (211, 173).
Anderson 19, Carlson 11 — It was something of a comeback effort for Anderson, who picked up just its third win in the league by rallying vs Carlson. After trailing through the bakers, Anderson responded with 15 points in the regular games. The Titans got single wins from five different bowlers, including a team-best effort from David Degrazia (166, 189). Carlson on the other side got a pair of wins from Aiden Bailey (181, 158).
Allen Park 16, Trenton 14 — The most tightly-contested match of the afternoon, Allen Park like Anderson needed just enough in the regular games to eke out a win vs Trenton. Two wins each from Myles Ferguson (168, 166) and Lukkas Glegola (169, 155) gave the Jags a big lift. Trenton meanwhile housed one of the more dominant individual efforts on Thursday with Brendan Osmulski (218, 210) winning both of his games.
Taylor 23, Edsel Ford 7 — An impressive showing in the regular games helped Taylor create some big separation from their Edsel counterparts. Two wins each from Carter Adams (244, 223) and Aiden Givens (202, 142), as well as a strong second-game score from Lucas Doute (232), helped the Griffins cash in 17 of the possible points in the regular series.
