Two of the best teams in both the Michigan Independent Athletic Conference and in Division 4 shared the hardwood for their first of two scheduled regular season matchups on Tuesday when Southfield Christian trekked down to Allen Park Inter-City Baptist.

Both teams came in with a combined 15-2 record on the season. Both clubs also came in ranked inside the top 10 in the initial Michigan Sports Writers rankings to begin this week, with Inter-City ranked No. 2 and Christian checking in at No. 8.

Potentially the first of three meetings this winter between the two traditional powers, it was the Chargers of Inter-City, behind another sterling effort from senior Ethan Esse, pulling away for a 67-51 win over the visiting Eagles from Southfield.
