Two local high school girls basketball teams heading in opposite directions as of late squared off in a Downriver League battle Friday night when Wyandotte Roosevelt traveled to Lincoln Park.

It’s been an encouraging start to the season, who made it back-to-back wins and four in their first six games overall when they defeated Ypsilanti Lincoln earlier in the week on Jan 6. Roosevelt meanwhile came in looking to end a three-game losing streak, eyeing their first victory since before Christmas.

Despite a furious fourth quarter comeback, the visiting Bears will have to try again for a win another time after the host Railsplitters from Lincoln Park hung on late for a 33-30 victory.
