A couple of local high school girls basketball teams returned to game action on Monday for the first time since before Christmas when Riverview Gabriel Richard welcomed in Taylor for a non-conference matchup.

Monday was the first game for Richard since Dec 19, when they improved to 2-2 on the year with a victory over Dearborn Heights Annapolis.

Taylor, who took the floor for the first time since Dec 16, was still looking for its first win of the season after dropping its first three contests to Downriver League foes.

A tightly-contested, back-and-forth battle on Monday went all the way down to the end. And despite being held to just one made basket in the fourth quarter, the host Pioneers from Richard were able to hang on for a 33-29 win over the visiting Griffins.
