A Taylor Police Department task force has made four additional arrests of people who allegedly believed they were meeting up with children for sex.

All of the suspects believed they were interacting with children on the internet, but were actually conversing with undercover officers, according to a release from Taylor police.

The task force, named the Downriver Response Against Grooming Online (DRAGON), was formed last year and previously arrested 14 people on similar charges.

In the most recent cases, the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office has charged all four with child sexually abusive activity and use of computers to commit a crime.

The four defendants, arrested in an operation that took three and a half days, are:

– Kamal Boukra, 29, of Southgate

– Norman Kovalchick, 53, of Bloomfield Township, also charged with possession of a controlled substance

– Michael Comstock, 62, of Taylor

– Charles Wenderski Jr., 58, of Taylor

The task force is the only one of its kind in Wayne County, according to Det. Mario Hinojosa.

He and four other Taylor detectives received specialized training from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, a national network of federal, state and local police.

Hinojosa said the task force was formed to “be more proactive” about a growing problem around the country.

Taylor police received assistance from U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Secret Service, and the Dearborn, Brownstown and Allen Park police departments.
