A 30-year-old Downriver man is accused of trying to meet a supposed 15-year-old girl Monday in Warren for sexual relations, according to Macomb County prosecutors.
Andrew Day, of Trenton, was arraigned Tuesday by Judge Suzanne Faunce of 37th District Court in Warren on charges of accosting a child for immoral purposes, a 4-year felony, and the misdemeanor level of using a computer to commit a crime, punishable by up to one year in jail.
Day allegedly messaged an undercover profile created by a law enforcement official identifying as a 15-year-old girl on the Reddit social-media website, county Prosecutor Peter Lucido said. Day allegedly sent her explicit photos of himself and spoke about explicit activities.
He planned to meet for what he believed was sexual relations with a teenage girl and was arrested upon arrival at the meeting location, according to Lucido.
Faunce set a $100,000 cash or surety bond. If he posts bond, he must don a GPS tether and comply with several conditions, including no contact with minors, not internet use and no presence within 1,000 feet of a school, playground, or place where children congregate, among others.
A probable cause conference is scheduled for August 26 and a preliminary exam is scheduled for Sept. 2, both before Judge Michael Chupa.
