Chad Michael Watts, 45, of Kyle, was arrested and charged with two counts of assault causing bodily injury following an altercation with students taking part in a walkout protest in Buda, police said in a press release.

The Monday afternoon protest, organized by students from Moe and Gene Johnson High School, was described by Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra as a “peaceful student-led demonstration” and a “lawful exercise of the constitutional rights to free speech and peaceful assembly.”

However, the protest did not remain peaceful for long, according to Buda police. Officers dispatched to the intersection of RM 967 and FM 1626 around 3 p.m. encountered a heated verbal argument involving a teenage girl on the sidewalk and an adult man inside a vehicle.

The argument quickly escalated, turning into a “physical altercation involving multiple people,” officials said.

Both the man, later identified as Watts, and the unidentified teen were interviewed by detectives. Each reported minor injuries but declined medical evaluation, police said. No arrests were made at the time.

On Tuesday, Buda police said further investigation determined Watts “was the primary aggressor in the physical altercation,” leading to his arrest.

A video obtained by CBS Austin appears to show Watts confronting a student and pushing her to the ground. Several students were seen rushing to confront the man, throwing objects at him as he returned to his truck.

“No matter one’s political views, an adult bears a clear responsibility to exercise restraint, especially in the presence of children,” Judge Becerra said in a statement. “Violence or intimidation directed at a minor — particularly during a lawful, peaceful demonstration — has no place in a constitutional republic that depends on the rule of law rather than force.”

Matthew Smith, 20, a resident of Hauppauge, was driving while intoxicated when he ran a red light and struck another vehicle in Saint James shortly after 6 a.m., according to the Suffolk County Police Department.

A preliminary investigation found that Smith was traveling northbound on Alexander Avenue when he crashed his Chevy Silverado into an Alfa Romeo traveling westbound on Route 347.

Smith and his passenger, 25-year-old John Andali, of Centereach, were both taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Alfa Romeo, Nassau County officer Patricia Espinosa, was transported to the same hospital but was later pronounced dead.

Espinosa, 42, began working with the NCPD in 2017 and was assigned to the 5th Precinct.

Espinosa was a “dedicated member of the Nassau County Police Department who gave her life in service to others” and who “understood the sacrifices of this profession,” said Tommy Shevlin, president of the county’s Police Benevolent Association.

She’s survived by her husband, Francisco Malaga, also a police officer, and her 2-year-old daughter, Mia. Part of a “true law enforcement family,” her brothers, Christian and David Almeida, also “proudly serve as police officers,” Shevlin said.

Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman announced on Saturday that he had ordered flags to be flown at half-staff from “Monday until burial.”

“Heartbroken over the passing of police officer Patricia Espinosa, a beloved member of the Fifth Precinct,” Blakeman said in a statement, adding that he “had the honor” of marching alongside Espinosa in the Puerto Rican Day Parade.

Smith was charged with driving while intoxicated, police said. Both vehicles were impounded as the investigation continues.

“Minutes ago at my direction, [Homeland Security and FBI] agents executed an arrest in Minnesota,” Bondi posted on X around 9:30 a.m. ET. “So far, we have arrested Nekima Levy Armstrong, who allegedly played a key role in organizing the coordinated attack on Cities Church in St. Paul, Minnesota.”

Just before 10 a.m., Bondi announced a second arrest of a person involved in Sunday’s demonstration.

“Chauntyll Louisa Allen has been taken into custody,” Bondi wrote.

“We will protect our houses of worship,” she added in all caps, followed by a praying-hands emoji.

Allen is an elected member of the St. Paul School Board and one of the founders of Black Lives Matter St. Paul.

The newly released material includes dozens of short videos and still photographs of the compound, including one showing a particularly bizarre room filled with an old-fashioned dental chair, Ikea-style metal cabinets and nearly a dozen caricature-like male face masks arranged irregularly on its walls.

Other images show a desktop computer displaying surveillance footage of the property; a bedroom in the compound; a shower room with several pillows; a room with a chalkboard with the words “power” and “deception” written on it; and a desk telephone with four names that appear to have been redacted.

Members of the Oversight Committee received the images in response to a Nov. 18 request to the U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Justice for information to aid the ongoing investigation into the disgraced financier, who died by suicide in his Manhattan jail cell in August 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges.

“We are releasing these photos and videos to ensure public transparency in our investigation and to help piece together the full picture of Epstein’s horrific crimes,” said Rep. Robert Garcia, the top Democrat in the committee.

The images offer a “harrowing look behind Epstein’s closed doors,” Oversight Democrats said on social media, inviting the public to “see for yourself.”

The committee also received records from J.P. Morgan and Deutsche Bank, lawmakers said, adding that those files will be reviewed and should be made available to the public “in the days ahead.”

“We won’t stop fighting until we deliver justice for the survivors,” Garcia said. “It’s time for President Trump to release all the files, now.”

Last month, in a stunning show of bipartisanship, Democrats and Republicans in both chambers voted overwhelmingly in favor of a bill to force the Justice Department to release all of its unclassified files on Jeffrey Epstein within 30 days.

Trump signed the bill on Nov. 19, but it remains unclear how much of the files will be released to the public, as the Justice Department can withhold or redact certain information under the law’s provisions.

In a wild post shared on his social media platform Friday night, Trump wrote that despite accomplishing what he called “record achievements for our country” and turning the U.S. into the world’s “hottest” nation, all that “Wacky Marjorie” does is “complain, complain, complain.”

He said he would endorse a challenger against Greene “if the right person runs” in next year’s midterm elections, claiming the people of her district are similarly “fed up with her and her antics.”

The political breakup appears to be the culmination of a dispute that had been simmering for at least six months, which the president suggested began when he discouraged Greene from running for Senate or governor.

She also “told many people that she is upset” that Trump doesn’t “return her phone calls anymore,” the president said.

“With 219 congressmen/women, 53 U.S. senators, 24 Cabinet members, almost 200 countries, and an otherwise normal life to lead, I can’t take a ranting lunatic’s call every day,” Trump wrote on Truth Social around 8:30 p.m. Friday.

Less than an hour later, the polarizing Georgia lawmaker — and former MAGA powerhouse — fired back at Trump’s claims in a lengthy post on X, sharing a screenshot of a text message she said “sent him over the edge.”

“President Trump just attacked me and lied about me. I haven’t called him at all, but I did send these text messages today,” she wrote, posting a message in which she tells the president about the importance of “releasing the Epstein files.”

Greene was one of a handful of Republicans to sign on with House Democrats to force a vote over releasing the files related to the sex trafficking investigation into the disgraced late financier.

“It’s astonishing really how hard he’s fighting to stop the Epstein files from coming out — that he actually goes to this level,” Greene continued.

Despite being a longtime and ardent supporter of the president and the MAGA agenda, Greene said she doesn’t “worship or serve Donald Trump.”

Early Saturday morning, Trump doubled down on his attack, slamming “Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Greene” as someone who has “betrayed the entire Republican party when she turned left.”

A few hours later, Greene suggested the exchange is making her fear for her life.

“I am now being contacted by private security firms with warnings for my safety as a hot bed of threats against me are being fueled and egged on by the most powerful man in the world,” she wrote on X. “The man I supported and helped get elected.”

“As a Republican, who overwhelmingly votes for President Trump‘s bills and agenda, his aggression against me, which also fuels the venomous nature of his radical internet trolls (many of whom are paid), this is completely shocking to everyone,” wrote Greene, who in 2019 famously stalked and confronted Parkland school shooting survivor David Hogg with claims that his gun control activism was being funded by Democrats.

“The political industrial complex and the toxic violent nature of American politics must end,” she said. “Our country is worth saving and it can only be done if we pull together and save ourselves.”

Members of the alleged drug ring, which investigators said spanned from the Bronx to Suffolk County, were arrested following a multi-agency probe led by the Suffolk County District Attorney’s East End Drug Task Force, with assistance from partner agencies such as the DEA and the NYPD, District Attorney Ray Tierney said at a press conference last week.

On Oct. 30, following a months-long narcotics investigation, law enforcement executed search warrants at homes and vehicles in West Islip, Bay Shore, Wyandanch, Lindenhurst and the Bronx, which were believed to be tied to the conspiracy, Tierney said.

The operation resulted in the seizure of cocaine, heroin, pressed pills and enough fentanyl to kill the entire population of Suffolk County, or about 1.5 million people, according to the DA.

“The defendants in this case allegedly ran a prolific drug distribution operation that flooded our neighborhoods with deadly fentanyl, heroin and cocaine,” Tierney said . “Every kilogram of fentanyl represents 500,000 potential overdose deaths. There was more than enough fentanyl here to kill every man, woman and child in Suffolk County.”

In addition, authorities recovered three pistols along with seven illegal high-capacity magazines — including three drum-style magazines holding 50 rounds each — a shotgun, a rifle and additional ammunition.

The six defendants were identified as 26-year-old John Collado, of West Islip; 33-year-old Anthony Dominguez, of Bay Shore; 26-year-old Michael Torres, of Wyandanch; 35-year-old David Priest, of Ronkonkoma; and 31-year-old Luiggi Peralta, of the Bronx.

They were arraigned before District Court Judge Evan Tanenbaum on Oct. 31 on multiple narcotics and weapons charges, online court records show.
