The Oscar nominee, 83, said during an Apple TV press day Tuesday that, “if it was all over here, that would be sufficient,” per The Hollywood Reporter.

“Shrinking” — which debuted on Apple TV+ in 2023 and returned for its third season last week — stars co-creator Jason Segel as Jimmy, a therapist grieving his late wife. In the process of learning to heal himself, he begins telling his patients “exactly what he thinks.”

Ford last year earned his first-ever Emmy nomination for his role as fellow therapist Paul, who’s battling Parkinson’s disease.

“Where do you go from here? The kind of work that we’re able to do is remarkable given the tools we have to work with and the notion that lies behind this series,” Ford said.

He also discussed the “real sense of responsibility” he felt for his portrayal of the disease, which has afflicted new co-star Michael J. Fox since the early 1990s.

Ford admitted he found the thought of having Fox on the set “a bit daunting,” but described the “Back to the Future” alum as an “extraordinary, generous and lovely fellow” who’s “so funny as well.”

“He is such a powerful presence,” Ford said. “Such grace and courage and indomitability, and some of that, I hope, will help me color my portrayal of a character with Parkinson’s.”

The “very special” series is “a different kind of job” for the man known to so many as Indiana Jones, Han Solo, and Rick Deckard — among countless other beloved characters.

“This has been a very different kind of job for me, and I’ve been doing this for a long time,” Ford noted. “It really nurtures me and makes me feel like what we’re doing has value and importance. I look for that in my life and I’m happy to have found it here.”

Alleged ransom note in Nancy Guthrie disappearance demands Bitcoin https://www.thenewsherald.com/2026/02/04/nancy-guthrie-ransom-note-demands-bitcoin/ Wed, 04 Feb 2026 17:11:47 +0000 https://www.thenewsherald.com/?p=1404105&preview=true&preview_id=1404105 A ransom note connected to the suspected abduction of Savannah Guthrie’s mother Nancy Guthrie demanded millions in cryptocurrency and was shown to the “Today” show co-host by federal authorities.

Alarm bells began to sound Sunday when the 84-year-old matriarch missed church. She was last seen the night prior at her Tucson home, where she lives alone.

On Tuesday, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told CBS News — whose Arizona affiliate station received one such apparent alleged ransom notice — that “like any piece of evidence,” investigators are “going to look at every aspect of that lead.”

The FBI ultimately reviewed the notice and shared it with the 54-year-old NBC journalist.

An email that “appears to be one of the alleged ransom notes” CBS affiliate KOLD-TV said it received an email Monday night “that appears to be one of the alleged ransom notes,” which it then forwarded to the sheriff’s department.

“Investigators are working to determine its credibility,” said the outlet.

TMZ reported that the sender is demanding millions in Bitcoin be sent to a certain address, which the outlet has verified.

“There are certain things they’re saying about what she was wearing and damage to the house,” said TMZ founder Harvey Levin. “We’ve contacted the sheriff’s department and we want to get them this letter.”

Nanos said the outlet reported the note prior to reaching out to authorities.

“We are aware of reports circulating about possible ransom note(s) regarding the investigation into Nancy Guthrie,” it tweeted. “Anything that comes in, goes directly to our detectives who are coordinating with the FBI.”

By Wednesday morning, the Sheriff’s Office cautioned people against jumping to conclusions, as “no suspect or person of interest has been identified at this time.”

“Detectives are working closely with the Guthrie family. While we appreciate the public’s concern, the sharing of unverified accusations or false information is irresponsible and does not assist the investigation,” they said.

Nanos told CBS that “the clock is literally ticking” as Nancy has “meds that are critical to her” and the situation “could be fatal if she doesn’t get those meds.”

Kelly Clarkson ending talk show ‘to prioritize my kids’ https://www.thenewsherald.com/2026/02/03/kelly-clarkson-talk-show-ending/ Tue, 03 Feb 2026 18:45:55 +0000 https://www.thenewsherald.com/?p=1403463&preview=true&preview_id=1403463 Kelly Clarkson’s eponymous daytime talk show will end later this year, following the hit’s current season.

“The Kelly Clarkson Show” will run through this fall, ending with the seventh season, the 43-year-old host announced Monday on Instagram.

“I am forever grateful and honored to have worked alongside the greatest band and crew you could hope for, all the talent and inspiring people who have shared their time and lives with us, all the fans who have supported our show, and to NBC for always being such a supportive and incredible partner,” said the six-time Daytime Emmy winner.

Though the move “was not an easy decision,” Clarkson said closing the curtain on the show “will allow me to prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives.”

Clarkson’s ex-husband and former manager Brandon Blackstock — with whom she shared daughter River, 11, and 9-year-old son Remington — died last summer following a private battle with cancer. A day prior, Clarkson delayed her Las Vegas residency.

An insider last month told People that Clarkson “is obviously heartbroken for her kids. Losing their dad is incredibly painful and confusing,” but that the “Breakaway” crooner is “not someone who falls apart.”

Clarkson, rather, “looks at life realistically and does everything she can to make things as steady and loving as possible for her kids.”

Clarkson added in her statement that though she’s concluding her show, she isn’t completely disappearing from the public eye and would “still be making music, playing shows here and there” and may occasionally return to judge “The Voice.”

Jennifer Grey set for ‘Dirty Dancing’ sequel, filming this year https://www.thenewsherald.com/2026/01/28/jennifer-grey-dirty-dancing-sequel-filming-this-year/ Wed, 28 Jan 2026 17:54:07 +0000 https://www.thenewsherald.com/?p=1400591&preview=true&preview_id=1400591 Nobody puts Jennifer Grey in a corner. The “Dirty Dancing” star is finally about to reprise her role in the 1987 hit’s long-awaited sequel, going into production this year.

Grey, 65, is officially confirmed to once again play her Golden Globe-nominated role of Frances “Baby” Houseman in “Dirty Dancing 2,” written by Kim Rosenstock and scheduled to start filming later in 2026, The Wrap reports.

“I’ve long wondered where we might find Baby years later and what her life might be like, but it’s taken time to assemble the kind of people that I felt could be entrusted to build on the legacy of the original film,” Grey, who will serve as one of the executive producers, told the outlet. “I’m excited to say that it looks like the wait will soon be over!”

Adam Fogelson, chair for the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, said that with a “super team now in place,” they’re moving “full steam ahead” with a “new theatrical film meant for the big screen.”

Directed by Emile Ardolino and written by Eleanor Bergstein, the original “Dirty Dancing” takes place at Catskills resort Kellerman’s, where goody two-shoes Baby comes of age while falling for Patrick Swayze’s dreamy dance instructor Johnny. It’s unclear how Johnny’s character will factor into the new iteration, following Swayze’s death from pancreatic cancer in 2009.

The latest news comes nearly four years after Lionsgate’s Cinemacon presentation in April 2022. There, the studio showed clips from the original film, with a voiceover promising, “Jennifer Grey returns to Kellerman’s in the next chapter.”

“Dirty Dancing” won the Oscar for Best Original Song for “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life,” which plays during Baby and Johnny’s beloved final dance.

The film’s been adapted for the stage, a brief 1988 CBS series and with 2004’s “Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights,” as well as a widely-panned musical remake from ABC in 2017.

Billy Joel surprises fans with first live performance since brain disorder diagnosis https://www.thenewsherald.com/2026/01/04/billy-joel-surprise-performance-wellington-florida-brain-disorder/ Sun, 04 Jan 2026 18:40:26 +0000 https://www.thenewsherald.com/?p=1391393&preview=true&preview_id=1391393 Billy Joel kicked off the New Year with a surprise performance in Florida — his first since having to cancel a string of shows in 2025 due to a neurological condition.

The 76-year-old “Piano Man” returned to form on Friday night at an amphitheater in Wellington, Fla., where he hopped onstage to play “Big Shot” and “We Didn’t Start the Fire” as part of the village’s 30th anniversary celebration, according to video published by TMZ.

The footage also shows Joel’s youngest daughters — Della, 10, and Remy, 8, both of whom he shares with wife Alexis Roderick — grooving beside the piano to their dad’s storied tunes.

After rocking the house, Joel received cheers from the crowd as he was escorted offstage while using a cane.

In May, Joel canceled all forthcoming shows, announcing that he’d been diagnosed with a brain disorder known as normal pressure hydrocephalus. The National Institutes of Health describes the condition as “an abnormal buildup of cerebrospinal fluid deep within the brain,” with symptoms including vision problems, difficulty walking and memory loss.

Joel at the time said that his “hearing, vision and balance” had been affected by the disorder, and had only been been exacerbated by performing live.

It’s unclear when Joel intends to return to the stage full-tilt, he said he hopes to back this year to play previously postponed gigs.

Leonardo DiCaprio claims he’s never seen ‘Titanic’ https://www.thenewsherald.com/2025/12/18/leonardo-dicaprio-never-seen-titanic/ Thu, 18 Dec 2025 18:36:48 +0000 https://www.thenewsherald.com/?p=1386691&preview=true&preview_id=1386691 Leonardo DiCaprio may be the king of the big screen, but he claims to have never seen “Titanic” — or most of his films, for that matter.

Jennifer Lawrence asked her 51-year-old fellow Oscar winner, during Variety’s Actors on Actors series, whether he’s ever rewatched James Cameron’s 1997 blockbuster when DiCaprio revealed, “I haven’t seen it before.

“I don’t really watch my films,” continued the “One Battle After Another” star, whose fame entered a global stratosphere with the success of “Titanic.”

Lawrence, 35, echoed that she doesn’t watch her work either, though, “I’ve never made something like ‘Titanic,’ if I did, I would watch it.”

It’s unclear which of his films DiCaprio has seen, but one would probably have to go out of their way to avoid the 1997 Best Picture winner.

In addition to theatrical re-releases, including an IMAX version in 2012 and 2023, the three-hour-plus heartbreaker was a fixture on channels like TNT.

“Titanic” was inducted into the Library of Congress’ National Film Registry in 2017 and is the fourth-highest-grossing film of all time, behind “Avatar,” “Avengers: Endgame,” and “Avatar: The Way of Water” — which, like its predecessor and “Titanic,” was also helmed by Cameron, 71.

Sharon Osbourne reveals Ozzy’s last words to her https://www.thenewsherald.com/2025/12/11/sharon-osbourne-reveals-ozzy-last-words/ Thu, 11 Dec 2025 18:33:34 +0000 https://www.thenewsherald.com/?p=1384212&preview=true&preview_id=1384212 Sharon Osbourne is revealing Ozzy’s last words to her, minutes before the rocker suffered a fatal heart attack this summer.

The heavy metal star’s widow, 73, told “Piers Morgan Uncensored” on Wednesday that Ozzy woke her at around 4:30 a.m., shortly before he ultimately passed on July 22, telling Sharon to “kiss me, hug me tight.”

“He used to get up early and he would say, ‘I’ve gotta go down and work out,’” said an emotional Sharon, who married the Black Sabbath frontman in 1982. “He went downstairs, worked out for 20 minutes and passed away.”

Sharon also shared that in his final days, the “Crazy Train” singer was having “really, really vivid” dreams of people “he’d never seen. … He was ready.” She said she learned of his death when she heard “screaming in the house.”

“I ran downstairs and there he was, and they were trying to resuscitate him, and I’m like, ‘Don’t, leave him. Leave him, he’s gone.’ I knew, instantly, he’s gone,” she continued. “They tried and tried and they took him by helicopter to the hospital and they tried.”

Ozzy, who suffered from Parkinson’s, died on the heels of his early July farewell show in his native Birmingham, England, with Sharon telling Morgan the musician “didn’t want to die onstage, but he knew that it was that close.”

Sharon also told Morgan she could “never ever ever” imagine marrying another individual.

Google’s most-searched pop culture terms of 2025, explained https://www.thenewsherald.com/2025/12/10/most-searched-pop-culture-terms-on-google-2025/ Wed, 10 Dec 2025 18:25:18 +0000 https://www.thenewsherald.com/?p=1383733&preview=true&preview_id=1383733 The year 2025, like many in this decade, can’t easily be summed up by a single word or phrase, but the top Google searches of the year certainly offer a reminder of the most memorable pop culture moments of the past 12 months.

From singer D4vd and “KPop Demon Hunters” to Labubus and “6-7,” little in 2025 has escaped the lens of polarity — but the annual rundown from the world’s preeminent search engine suggests that some names, trends and “ugly-cute” keychains might benefit from further explanation.

Below, a breakdown of some of the year’s most disturbing, intriguing and baffling trends…

D4vd

The 20-year-old, Queens-born singer, real name David Anthony Burke, is the world’s most-searched person of the year, and America’s most-searched musician — but not because of his craft.

D4vd was at the beginning of a world tour in early September when the dismembered and decomposing remains of 15-year-old runaway Celeste Rivas Hernandez were found in the trunk of his impounded Tesla, sparking a search frenzy and devastating investigation.

The teen girl who was found dead in singer D4vd's Tesla in Los Angeles was identified Wednesday as Celeste Rivas, a 15-year-old girl who had been missing for more than a year.
The teen girl who was found dead in singer D4vd’s Tesla in Los Angeles was identified Wednesday as Celeste Rivas, a 15-year-old girl who had been missing for more than a year.

As of mid-November, D4vd is considered a suspect in Rivas Hernandez’s apparent homicide, while a second person is believed to have assisted in the dismemberment of her body.

‘KPop Demon Hunters’

The Sony animated musical, released by Netflix this summer and newly crowned TIME’s Breakthrough of the Year, is U.S. Google’s top-searched movie of the year, while Oscar Best Picture winner “Anora” is the most-searched movie worldwide.

“KPop Demon Hunters” centers on a K-pop girl group that moonlights as titular demon hunters, voiced by Arden Cho, May Hong and Ji-young Yoo.

The film — whose cast was also the top-searched of 2025 — was such a streaming hit that it was granted a singalong event in late October, which accounts for its surprise Golden Globe nomination on Monday for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement.

It also scored far less shocking nominations for Best Motion Picture-Animated and Best Original Song for “Golden,” which has been streamed more than 1.1 billion times on Spotify. “Golden” also topped the list of the world’s “hum to search” songs.

Labubu

You’ve probably seen them hanging off a handbag, as the star of an influencer’s unboxing or on PopMart’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade float. Created by Hong Kong artist Kasing Lung, a Labubu — the No. 3 search of the year — looks like a plush, compact Furby meets a “Where the Wild Things Are” creature.

The dolls’ prominence comes a decade after their debut in Lung’s children’s books, “The Monsters,” in which they’re “zestful, curious elves about the size of your average house cat, who love a bit of harmless mischief.”

That mischief extends to the “blind boxes” in which Labubus are now sold, as proud owners don’t know which of the 300 options they’ll receive.

‘6-7’

If you’re old enough to read this, you may have been among those asking, “What does [insert chosen slang term] mean?” when it comes to, well, a lot, especially “6-7.”

New York’s top-trending slang search comes with a so-so hand motion, when the numbers are said or shown next to each other, according to some youngins who tried explaining it to Kelly Ripa and Mark Conseulos.

“But to be clear, it has no meaning at all?” Ripa asked, which was affirmed by adolescent “Live” audience members. “Basically it has no meaning at all.”

Dictionary.com’s Word of the Year, “6-7” — pronounced like six-seven, rather than sixty-seven — is Gen Alpha’s “viral, ambiguous” and “largely nonsensical” term, though it can sometimes connote “so-so” or “maybe this, maybe that.”

Hailey, Justin Bieber taking their lives ‘a day at a time’ https://www.thenewsherald.com/2025/11/12/hailey-justin-bieber-taking-life-day-at-a-time/ Wed, 12 Nov 2025 18:21:39 +0000 https://www.thenewsherald.com/?p=1374907&preview=true&preview_id=1374907 Hailey and Justin Bieber are taking life one day at a time, as the supermodel insists that — contrary to rampant speculation and songs on the pop star’s recent albums — they’re all good.

The Rhode founder, 28, said in GQ’s Men of the Year cover interview that the couple is trying to balance their celebrity with privacy, particularly when it comes to their 14-month-old son, Jack Blues.

“We’re just taking it a day at a time. We both feel very protective of our son and I don’t think that’s ever going to change, but our life is our life and it is really public, so I think we’re just going to cross every bridge that we need to when we get there,” the model said. “But as of right now, I feel really comfortable about the way we are sharing things and not sharing things.”

Though she didn’t explicitly discuss expanding their brood of three, Bieber said she feels “much more prepared to do [motherhood] again, as opposed to how not prepared I felt doing it for the first time.”

As for working professionally with her husband of seven years — on his brand SKYLRK’s leather jacket and a joint phone case — Hailey said, “It’s obviously really fun when you get to be able to do anything with the person that you love.”

She also seemed to wave off any looming concerns about their marriage, as she expressed how much “fun” it’s been “to both have things that we’re really excited about and passionate about alongside each other and supporting each other.”

In the May 2025 cover interview for Vogue’s Summer Issue, Hailey said the bulk of reports about her and their marriage are “not real.”

However, the July release of Justin’s album, “Swag,” continued to stoke the fires of divorce rumors, with multiple songs suggesting tensions behind closed doors.

“Throwin’ petals like, ‘Do you love me or not?’ … You said ‘Forever,’ babe, did you mean it or not?” he asks in the song “Daisies.”

Despite the apparent struggles, Justin pledges in “Walking Away” not to do just that: “Baby, I ain’t walking away / You were my diamond / Gave you a ring.”

‘Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ child actor Floyd Roger Myers Jr. dead at 42 https://www.thenewsherald.com/2025/10/30/fresh-prince-of-bel-air-floyd-roger-myers-jr-dead/ Thu, 30 Oct 2025 18:05:01 +0000 https://www.thenewsherald.com/?p=924173&preview=true&preview_id=924173 “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” alum Floyd Rogers Myers Jr., who appeared on the hit show as a child, has died. He was 42.

The “Jacksons: An American Dream” actor suffered a heart attack at his Maryland home early Wednesday, his mother, Renee Trice, confirmed to TMZ.

This was the fourth in a string of heart attacks over the past three years, according to Trice.

Myers’ screen career was short but notable, as the younger version of Will Smith in a 1992 “Fresh Prince” episode, “Will Gets Committed.”

The Daily News has reached out to Smith for comment.

Later that year, Myers appeared as Marlon Jackson, ages 7 to 9, in Parts I and II of “The Jacksons: An American Dream.” The Emmy-winning miniseries about the Jackson family also starred Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs as patriarch Joe Jackson, Angela Bassett as matriarch Katherine Jackson as well as Holly Robinson Peete, Terrence Howard, Billy Dee Williams and Vanessa Williams.

Myers’ last screen appearance was in 2000, when he was credited as a student in “Young Americans,” which aired for one season and starred Kate Bosworth and Ian Somerhalder.
