Southgate police responded to Anderson High School around 6:40 a.m. Wednesday when a live round of ammunition was found inside the school.

It was found in the ROTC room by two students, who turned the round into the school staff.

Southgate, Dearborn police and Airport Authority police as well as the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department canine units are checking the interior of the building. The units are trained in the detection of munitions.

The school closed down for the day around 8:30 a.m.

No actual threat was received by staff, students or through the police department. The Southgate police detective bureau is at the scene handling the investigation. The search of the building is ongoing and there is no threat to the public at this time, according to a press release.
