If these particular walls could talk, they likely would speak volumes about the contributions of two notable people with photographs now hanging on display at Trenton High School.

The Trenton Educational Foundation’s Wall of Fame has been a prestigious attraction at the school dating back to 2011.

A volunteer selection committee was assembled to choose deserving candidates to display prominently on the featured wall at the school.

To date, there are a total of 39 people and organizations that are among the chosen.

This year, the foundation is inducting two new members, both of whom will be honored at the group’s annual Signature Event fundraising dinner.

The late Patricia Cole, and Robin Miles are this year’s honorees.

Their accomplishments will be the highlight of the recognition dinner, set for 6 p.m. on Nov. 14, at Event One-Nine in Riverview, 15001 Sibley Road in Riverview.

The evening will feature a “Time to Travel” theme.

Cole, who died in 2022, graduated from THS in 1966.

She earned her bachelor of science degree from the University of Michigan in 1970, a master of arts degree from Eastern Michigan University in 1974, and a PhD from the University of Michigan in 1981.

Her teaching career began at Wyandotte Public Schools in 1970, and after many rewarding assignments, she was chosen to serve as Wyandotte’s superintendent in 1994, a position she held until her retirement in 2011.

That same year she was recognized as the Tri-County (Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb) Superintendent of the Year.

“We’re, once again, deeply appreciative to both organize the effort as well as present this award to two deserving individuals,” stated Mike McCullough, volunteer TEF and chairman of the WOF committee . “By doing so, we’re affirming our community values the role individuals can play in the education of its students. And more importantly, it’s a wonderful way to build a stronger, more connected community centered on a shared goal of educational excellence.”

Miles has the distinction of serving Trenton Public Schools for 43 years as the administrative assistant to seven of the district’s superintendents, including current School Superintendent Douglas Mentzer.

Her passion and dedication to the community touched countless lives over these many years, as school officials said she not only provided invaluable assistance to administrators and educators, but also members of the school board as well as residents.

She was also instrumental during the TEF’s formative years and served on the WOF selection committee.

The TEF invites all to participate in the formal induction of these community servants by purchasing sponsorships or tickets to its “Time to Travel” event.

The evening will feature several food and dessert stations, an open premium bar, raffle and auction items, a DJ for live music, and more.

More information can be found online at Trentonedfoundation.org/events, or by calling the TEF Executive Director Peter Poulos at 313-680-4567.

Those looking for more information can also stop by the Board of Education office during normal business hours.

All proceeds go to supporting the TEF and its grant and scholarship programs.
