Allen Park’s St. Frances Cabrini Catholic School already has $2.93 million committed of its $4.85 fundraising goal for the school’s “All Things for Christ” capital campaign.
The campaign will fund major projects at the school, like the new, 20,000 square-foot fieldhouse and an outdoor learning space. According to a press release from the school, here are all of the projects funded by the campaign:
- A new 20,000-square-foot fieldhouse
- An outdoor learning space at the grade school
- An endowment to support teacher salaries
- Renovation of the theater room and several classrooms
- Upgrades to IT infrastructure and equipment
- Various other building improvements
“With the unwavering support of our alumni and the larger community, we are confident in our ability to reach our goal,” said Fr. Tim Birney, pastor of St. Frances Cabrini Parish. “This campaign is a commitment to the future and a continuation of our mission. We invite everyone to join us in this important endeavor.”
Some of the funds that have been pledged already include:
- A $1 million pledge from alumnus John Mizzi ’76, managing director and senior financial advisor of the John Mizzi Group at Merrill Lynch.
- A $500,000 pledge from alumnus Jim Seavitt ’65, owner of Village Ford. Seavitt was recently recognized in the Detroit Free Press for his dealership’s 17th consecutive Ford Triple Crown Award, an honor personally presented by Ford CEO Jim Farley.
- A $500,000 bequest from the estate of longtime parishioners Don and Dolores King.
- An $80,000 pledge from the school’s booster club.
- A projected $850,000 from annual school and parish fundraisers.
The campaign was officially launched Sept. 11 where guests were invited to tour the nearly-completed Cabrini Athletic Hall of Fame before being led to the site of the newly-planned fieldhouse, which will be the first new building on the school’s campus in 60 years.
The school is also hosting a fundraiser Sept. 17. The Village Ford Drive One 4UR Community Event takes place at the school’s campus. Village Ford will bring new Ford vehicles for people to take free test drives. Each test drive will initiate a $30 donation from Ford to the campaign, up to a maximum of $6,000. Village Ford will also match this for a maximum of $12,000.
